Lindsay VanSciverLindsay VanSciver

As the Regional Director of Admissions for Region VII, Lindsay has found a wealth of opportunities at Strayer. Less than two years after entering the CDLP, she now oversees all Strayer admissions departments for the Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana campuses.

Lindsay entered CDLP with a lot of experience, previously holding management positions for a variety of energy and industrial organizations. She excelled as a proficient operations manager and consultant, travelling around the country and helping a variety of locations improve their processes. However, when she heard about Strayer’s CDLP, which added a layer of education to what she was already doing, she was immediately interested.

Upon joining the CDLP, she instantly stood out as a rising star. Lindsay doesn’t attribute her success to the amount of experience she brought to the table. Instead she says, “What really helps is your openness and willingness to be a sponge in the program. And you also need to be humble, understanding that even if you’ve done this before in another job, you need to start where everyone else does. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t go through every rotation.”

Now in a senior leadership role, Lindsay manages multiple campus admissions departments, visiting a different one almost every day to check in with her colleagues. While her days are mostly comprised of calls and in-person meetings, she still makes sure to walk around each campus and interact with the students because to her, the students are still the focus of her job.

Lindsay works with both campus directors and admissions staff, motivating them to continue to output stellar results, while also trying to inject some fun into the workplace. Currently she is working on a Central Area World Series that pits campuses against one another in a friendly competition.  She loves creating these type of activities that recognize and celebrate those who do their jobs well.

Strayer’s CDLP acted as the springboard to Lindsay’s upward career path. It’s a challenging program, but one that can lead to amazing professional and personal accomplishments. For all looking at applying to the program, Lindsay gives the following words of advice, “You need to be as flexible and forward thinking as you can. If you are confined to just one location, you miss out on so many opportunities. And if you do your job at the same caliber as where you want to be two positions from now, you’re ultimately building yourself up for success.”
